BOWERS IN THE COMMUNITY

W.E. Bowers believes in the importance of community outreach as a key principle of responsible corporate citizenship. With a staff of skilled mechanical tradesmen, the company also recognizes that it has an obligation to share its expertise and valuable services with those in need. Bowers is actively involved a number of charitable and community organizations, including:

Jubilee Support Alliance– For many years, Bowers has supported this Washington, D.C.-based organization in its efforts to provide financial and in-kind support for low-income Jubilee Housing. The company serves as a major sponsor and fundraiser for the annual Jubilee Gala, and also sends volunteers to Jubilee Day, an annual fix-up day for Jubilee Housing in Washington, D.C.'s Adams Morgan neighborhood. Wayne Bowers, president and founder of W.E. Bowers, serves on the organization's board of directors.

"Heat's On, Water's Off" – Sponsored by the Mechanical Contractors D.C. Association, this program helps the elderly and disabled winterize their homes. Bowers' mechanics donate their time and expertise to assist residents of Prince George's County, Maryland, with the required pre-winter maintenance of their mechanical systems, including furnaces and hot water heaters.

The Compassion Center – Bowers is one of several members of the Mechanical Contractors DC Association helping to build this grieving center in College Park, Maryland, by donating heating, air conditioning, and plumbing equipment, as well as installation services.

Good Neighbor Food & Funds Drive – Bowers is a major sponsor of the Capital Area Food Bank's annual Good Neighbor Food & Funds Drive. Dedicated to helping the greater Washington, D.C., area respond to hunger in the community, the Capital Area Food Bank raises funds to help provide food and nutritional guidance to people in need.

Bowers and its employees also support the following organizations and events:

  • National Center for Missing and Exploited Children
  • Special Olympics
  • Komen National Race for the Cure
  • Center for Infant & Child Loss
